Lichens................................Back
You can get anything up to 30 species of lichens ocurring within a heather dominated community. They do especially well when rabbits are present because their dropping increase the quantity of nitrates and phosophates that are available. In undisturbed conditions they can cover the surface of the sand and be major contributers to stabilization.
